Dr Eng. Dominik Czernia of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), in collaboration with physician Łukasz Białek, has created an application that allows you to find out how dangerously high temperatures can occur in closed vehicles.

Based on specified parameters: ambient temperature, atmospheric conditions, as well as the colour of the vehicle and whether its windows are closed or slightly ajar, the calculator estimates the maximum air temperature in the car and the rate at which it heats up and illustrates how quickly the health consequences of increased body temperature can occur.

The app was built on the basis of physical experiments and mathematical models described in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

An excessively warmed vehicle interior raises the immediate danger of loss of health or even life, and the risk of damage to electronic devices, medicines, or food.
