Prof. Hideo Ohno, a prominent condensed matter physicist from Tohoku University in Japan, has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Warsaw (UW).
“The University of Warsaw is honoured to distinguish a world-class physicist who is scientifically engaged in semiconductor systems with embedded magnetic properties and spintronics, areas that are key to the development of modern science – artificial intelligence or information and communication technologies”, said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, during the ceremony of awarding Prof. Hideo Ohno with an honorary doctorate degree.
The distinguished Japanese physicist has published more than 500 scientific papers. Prof Ohno’s papers have been published in prestigious scientific journals such as Science, Nature, Nature Physics, Nature Materials and Physical Review Letters. They have been cited more than 104,000 times and his Hirsh index has exceeded 115. Prof Ohno has co-authored 119 patent families (the same invention patented in different countries), including 77 US patents.
