Dr Łukasz Pieszczek from the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Silesia has won the prestigious Award of the Committee on Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) for the best doctoral thesis in analytical chemistry. He was awarded for his contribution to the development of the principles of metrology and chemometrics in the field of chemical measurements.
The aim of the laureate’s research is to achieve a more detailed and complete understanding of the chemical changes occurring in multicomponent samples (such as drugs, food, plastic materials or environmental samples) that enter laboratories every day.
In a congratulatory letter, the Scientific Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences justified its decision by the high substantive level of the work, as well as its innovation and the presence of its results in the world scientific literature. The committee appreciated both the quality of the dissertation itself and the scientific achievements of the author, which were reflected in the published scientific articles.
