A team of scientists and students from Lublin University of Technology (PL) is working on a research platform that will be used to study methods of optimising the design of modern vehicles using computer simulation techniques. The project has received funding of nearly PLN 2 million from the Ministry of Education and Science.
Lublin University of Technology is launching the project , ‘Research platform for methods of optimising the life cycle of modern vehicles’. According to the university, the use of computer simulations is one of the most effective optimisation methods.
A digital twin of a car is created, being a copy of the real vehicle. It has the shape, dimensions and physical properties of the product. It is driven on virtual roads and subjected to virtual crash tests and tested from manufacture, through ageing and disposal. Using this technology saves time, money and streamlines production processes.
