A meeting was held at the University of Warsaw (UW) between the rector of the UW, Prof Alojzy Z. Nowak, and the deputy speaker of the Polish Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, and the minister of science and higher education, Dariusz Wieczorek.

The subject of the meeting included issues relating to doctoral and student affairs, in particular the material and housing situation of students and doctoral students, dormitories, assistant, and doctoral hotels.

Issues of raises for academic staff and other university employees were raised. Also discussed were matters related to potential opportunities for universities to create the so-called endowment needed to support the development of the university’s community and to intensify internationalisation processes, including through the creation of consortia and branches at the world’s best universities and in cooperation with business. It was agreed that discussions in this regard would continue.
