Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) in Szczecin has joined the group of universities and institutes working for the environment of women in Polish science under the “Girls for Science!” programme. The programme is designed to promote scientific careers among female students and doctoral students and to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience also with female scientists.
The project is aimed at female students and doctoral students of Polish STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) universities and scientific institutes; young scientists after obtaining a doctoral degree and experienced scientists.
The programme includes plans to hold meetings about the role of women in science, introduce our local female role-models in the STEM field, and encourage female students to take an interest in research careers – introducing them to its glories, shadows and the challenges it brings. A scientific mentoring programme aimed at female students and PhD students at Szczecin University is also planned.
