Researchers at the Silesian University of Technology, in collaboration with the Polish Green Building Association PLGBC and the Green Building Council Iceland, carried out the CIRCON project ‘Closed loop economy in construction: eco-design of circular buildings’.
After research and consultation with representatives from the construction industry, a publication was published that is a kind of know-how for architects, builders or developers. It is a solution that is innovative, practical and – most importantly – has been accepted by the business community.
“We had two objectives in mind. The first goal was to create a compendium of knowledge about designing buildings in line with the circular economy, i.e., to develop an assessment mechanism – how to design buildings and how to assess whether what we have designed is compatible with the goals of the circular economy. The second objective was to disseminate knowledge about design”, says the head of the design team from the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Krzysztof Pikoń.
