The Academic Center for Culture in cooperation with the Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology at the University of Gdańsk invites participants to the Audytorium C / 105 at the biology department on 4 April for the debate “Substantially on Digging the Vistula Spit”.

In the opinion of the organizers of the debate, the plan of the excavation and the construction of the shipping channel as well as actions taken to implement the investment brought a lot of controversies. Also, unreliable and untested information appears around the subject. There is still lack of calm conversations, experts’ discussions that would allow the public to understand what is to be built, and what are the potential risks of it.

The purpose of the meeting is to clarify the inaccuracies and gather reliable arguments for and against the planned digging. Organizers would like to discuss and compare the potential benefits and threats resulting from this investment, as well as refer to legal aspects related to the protection of nature in the area of the spit.
