Dr Monika Foltyn-Zarychta from the Department of Investment and Real Estate of the University of Economics in Katowice received the Beta 2019 Award for achievements in the field of financial management, for the book “Evaluation of intergenerational investments – ethical criteria in economic evaluation of investment projects’ effectiveness”.
The publication discusses the issue of assessing the effectiveness of intergenerational investments. Investment projects are increasingly reaching the distant future, and often, as in the case of investments counteracting climate change, their period of impact is hundreds of years. Then the effects of today’s activities will mainly concern unborn people yet. The book proposes a set of answers to the numerous shortcomings of the instruments used to assess the effectiveness of such investments.
The Beta is an honorary prize awarded during the Conference on Financial Management organized by Prof. Dariusz Zarzecki from the University of Szczecin.
