Dr Kaja Gadowska, head of the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University became a board member of the European Sociological Association (ESA) for the 2019-2021 term. The choice was made during the congress of this organization, which was held in Manchester.

The main area of her research interests is the dysfunction of the publics. An important part of her scientific and research activity concerns the restructuring of hard coal mining in Poland.

Dr Gadowska was also a visiting professor under the bilateral exchange programs and Erasmus + at the University of Tel Aviv, the University of Heidelberg, Charles University in Prague, Tamkang University in New Taipei, Jordan University in Amman and the International University in Rabat.
