Krakow University of Technology inaugurates the academic year

Over 13.5 thousand students and doctoral students began on 3 October the new academic year at the Krakow University of Technology (PK).

– We are celebrating the unique, 75th inauguration of the academic year at our university, at exceptional time of dynamic changes in Polish higher education and our university – said the rector of PK Prof. Jan Kazior. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science and Higher Education. Congratulation letters to the PK community were sent by Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Participating in the inauguration Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin thanked the University community for “a very significant contribution to the final decisions of the higher education reform contained in the Constitution for Science.”

He emphasized that the Ministry of Science is ready to amend the reform if such needs were reported by the academic community and pointed out particularly important challenges faced by technical universities: to take advantage of the development opportunities of doctoral schools and develop even more effectively Polish economy. He stressed that the common aspiration of the academic and ruling community should be to increase the financing of Polish science from budget funds.
