The AZS Sports Club of the Academy of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk has become a partner in the process of creating a new sailing base in Jelitkowo, Gdańsk. The project is scheduled to enter the implementation phase in the coming months, and during the summer holidays regular classes for children and young people should begin in the vicinity of the planned base.

The construction of the base is a joint initiative of the Municipality of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk Sports Centre, the Gdańsk Foundation for Economic Development and the AZS AWFiS Gdańsk Sports Club, the Gdańsk Sailing Club and the 77 Racing Club.

“The AZS AWFiS Gdańsk Sports Club is the cradle of the Gdańsk Olympians, which is why I would like to express my hope that our new water sports base in Jelitkowo in Gdańsk will allow for the development of ‘beach’ sailing competitions, such as windsurfing, kitesurfing or wingfoil, but also new Olympic competitions such as sea rowing”, said the director of the AZS Sports Club, Maciej Szafran.
