The Senate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (UAM) has unanimously passed a resolution to confer the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk. The Turkish writer will receive his diploma on 29 June.
“We are honouring one of the greatest living writers of our times, a man who is not only the author of excellent novels that move us all, but also someone with an impeccable moral attitude”, says the dean of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Prof. Tomasz Mizerkiewicz
Orhan Pamuk is a Turkish writer, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006. His works often describe the contact between Eastern and Western cultures. His books have been translated into more than 40 languages.
“Orhan Pamuk is an author of books that everyone should read at some point. He deals with themes related to Poland in his works in an extremely warm and heartfelt way. He always talks about Poland with respect, appreciation and great fascination”, adds Prof. Mizerkiewicz.
