The Mayor of Lubin, Robert Raczynski, and the Rector of the Medical University of Wrocław, Professor Piotr Ponikowski, signed a cooperation agreement on the establishment of a branch of the Wrocław university in Lubin. The signing of the document marked the start of work on the application for permission to establish the branch.
‘This is a historic moment for us and another step in the development of our university. We need well-educated specialists, and our university, a higher education institution with more than 70 years of tradition and experience in educating health care professionals, is the best partner for cooperation to achieve this goal’, said Prof Piotr Ponikowski.
The Mayor of Lubin acknowledged that staff shortages are one of the problems of health centres in the Copper Belt region, which is home to around 600,000 people, and the initiative to establish a branch of the Medical University of Wrocław in Lubin is a distinction and an opportunity to improve access to qualified specialists.
