Dr Paweł Jędrzejko, the University of Silesia from the faculty of humanities of the university was appointed the president of the International American Studies Association (IASA). It is the only independent non-governmental organization in the world that brings together Americanists from over fifty countries.
The International Association for American Studies, founded in Italy, Bellagio, aims to foster an international exchange of ideas and information among scholars who represent all nationalities and disciplines, and research and impart knowledge about the Americas. IASA creates space for interdisciplinary dialogue on American cultures and societies, promotes the exchange of teachers, scientists and students, and generates debates, publications and conferences.
The new president of IASA works at the Institute of Literature at the Faculty of Humanities of the Silesian University. His research interests include the theory and history of literature and culture, translation theory and philosophy.
