Dr Aneta Strachecka, professor at the University of Life Sciences (UP) in Lublin, head of the Department of Invertebrate Ecophysiology and Experimental Biology at UP, together with Martyna Walerowicz, editor of the Pasieka Publishing House, received a silver medal in an international competition for their book ‘Anatomy and Physiology of the Honeybee’. The award was announced at the 47th Apimondia International Apicultural Congress, in Turkey.
The Apimondia Congress brings together scientists, beekeeping associations and producers involved in beekeeping from all over the world. This year, only Russia and China did not participate. The silver medal for the Polish authors was awarded in the category ‘Book on scientific and semi-scientific subjects’,
The book was judged in terms of: appearance, content, educational mission and subject matter. Excerpts from selected chapters were translated into English. The book includes anatomical tables, authored by Martyna Walerowicz, and many photographs, including from under the microscope, taken by Dr Aneta Strachecka and staff of the Department of Invertebrate Ecophysiology and Experimental Biology.
