A project by students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology won third prize in the sixth MICROHOME competition. Their “Gathering House” proposal promotes integration and facilitates contact with nature.
The competition is organised by the Buildner platform, in collaboration with Archive Books. Its aim is to highlight the importance of small architecture in the face of the housing, economic and climate crisis.
Participants could submit designs for a modular structure in which a young couple could live. The total floor area could not exceed 25 m2.
The ‘Gathering House’ project, by Łukasz Danilczuk, Zuzanna Derska and Urszula Jędrzejak from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, is a concept combining small houses with communal gardens that could be incorporated into urban developments.
“For us, architecture is a form of large-scale expression. It is about creating spaces and structures that not only serve a utilitarian purpose, but also evoke emotions, tell stories and embody the culture and values of society”, emphasise the authors of the project.
