Students of the architecture faculty at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology received a distinction in the competition for the Best Social Project 2018. The award was granted for the help of disabled people in the design of their apartments.
The awarded project is the Joint Architectural Initiative (WIA), which has been run for 8 years by the Association for Support of the Development of Disabled People and the PoPArch Scientific Circle. The aim of the WIA is to help people with disabilities to remove architectural and technical barriers and to communicate. The WIA also trains students of the Faculty of Architecture at the University and the Faculty of Interior Design and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts to create projects that comply with the principles of universal design.
The first place in the competition was awarded by the Harvest project of company AmRest, which is implemented jointly with the Food Banks. They were awarded for their program to prevent a large scale food waste at KFC restaurants.
