IDEAS NCBR, a research and development centre in the field of artificial intelligence, is introducing precision forestry solutions that use AI in environmental protection and forestry.

AI solutions support the protection of rivers in Poland, accelerating work on identifying oxbow lakes.

AI is also being used to analyse data on marine and ocean pollution. The technology is also being used by specialists in forest conservation, management and biodiversity.

Scientists working in the research team at IDEAS NCBR, led by Prof. Krzysztof Stereńczak, are involved in the implementation of precision forestry solutions. It involves detecting and describing trees using remote sensing data. The team aims to create an AI tool to measure the characteristics and quality of individual trees. Their data will be able to be integrated for a specific area, such as a stand, forest or park, for the purposes of nature conservation and forest management.
