The influence of road surface type on the acoustic climate in the road environment is being studied by a team of road researchers from the Faculty of Construction and Environmental Sciences at Bialystok University of Technology (PB). This is part of a research project under the title ‘Innovative methods of road noise reduction and the principles of their application – INREH’, carried out by a consortium of five universities and financed by the National Centre for Research and Development and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
The primary objective of the project is to identify effective, sustainable solutions leading to the reduction of noise levels from car traffic while limiting the costs of their implementation and maintenance.
To carry out the task ‘Comparative analysis of the noise level of pavements taking into account the type and speed of motor vehicles in terms of assessing the acoustic climate in the vicinity of roads and forecasting its level’, a team of road engineers from the PB received PLN 508,000.
