Rector of the Bialystok University of Technology (PB) Dr Eng. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, together with the directors of the Białowieża National Park, the Biebrza National Park, the Narew National Park and the Wigry National Park signed a letter of intent, which means the commencement of permanent cooperation.
-Signing the letter of intent will be the first formalized step to establish a partnership between four national parks and the largest technical university in north-eastern Poland. The university, as one of the few higher schools in this part of the country, conducts engineering and master’s studies in forestry, and at the same time can propose innovative technical solutions supporting the sustainable existence of substances in national parks – said the rector.
The cooperation will concern restoring the bison population in Poland.
-This is a very promising project, because engineering and technical support is extremely important in restitution breeding. We have already had veterinary breeding experience, and technological innovations will allow us to manage the largest free-living population of bison even better – said Michał Krzysiak, director of the Białowieża National Park.
