Białystok University of Technology to launch exhibition “Polish science in the interwar period”

By July 19, 2019, the Bialystok University of Technology (PB) will host an exhibition prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education regarding Polish science and the most prominent scientists of the interwar period of 1918-1939.

The 52 presented scientists include: the creator of modern cartography – Eugeniusz Romer, the author of the first European hydro power plants – Gabriel Narutowicz (the first president of the Republic of Poland), the constructor of the first welded bridge – Stefan Bryła, or Ludwik Hirszfeld, who determined the blood groups accepted all over the world. The exhibition also present pictures of the inventor of the tank periscope – Rudolf Gundlach, walkie-talkie co-founder – Henryk Magnuski and representatives of the Lvov School of Mathematics.

In the inter-war period in Poland, there were 25 higher education institutions, including public schools: 5 universities and 2 technical universities. 48 thousand students were educated at these universities.
