The Bielsko-Biała University of Technology and Humanities (ATH) is beginning its efforts to gain university status. The planned activities to transform the ATH into the University of Bielsko-Biala were announced by the rector of the university, Dr Eng. Jacek Nowakowski, in a special letter to the university community. This is the result of the recent assessment of the quality of scientific activity.

“I believe that the Academy meets all the criteria necessary to undertake such a procedure. I am deeply convinced that as an Academic Community we are ready to realise this exceptional undertaking – needed not only for the further development of our university, but also needed by Bielsko-Biała and the region”, wrote the rector.

The name “university” is reserved for an academic institution with a scientific category of A+, A or B+ in at least six scientific or artistic disciplines, contained in at least three fields of science or art.
