Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University to receive over PLN 7 million for research on COVID-19

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education will finance the ProME project – Prognostic Modeling of the COVID-19 Epidemic, which will be implemented by the scientists of the Center for Digital Science and Technology of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw.

The Ministry of Science will allocate 7 million 191 thousand PLN for the project through  increasing the subsidy for the UKSW for 2020 for the implementation of the state’s scientific policy, which is related to monitoring the development of the coronavirus epidemic in Poland.

The ProME project involves the development and construction of an epidemic propagation monitoring tool and virus spread analysis. As part of the project, an AI / ML system will be created along with a system supporting monitoring and limiting the spread of the coronavirus in Poland.

The ProME project will support the processes of risk management in the epidemic, as well as support the management of social communication and decision-making processes undertaken by governmental and local government institutions during a pandemic.
