The Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), Rev. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski, and the Director General of the Prison Service, Inspector General Jacek Kitliński, signed a letter of intent concerning the training of prison staff, the conduct of joint scientific and research projects and the running of rehabilitation programmes for people deprived of their liberty.
During the ceremony of signing the letter of intent, it was recalled that the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) has been implementing an experimental study project for inmates for 10 years.
The new area of possible cooperation was pointed out by Dr Iwona Niewiadomska, Professor of the Faculty of Social Psychoprophylaxis at KUL.
The Catholic University of Lublin is the third entity in Poland to be accredited to offer a specialisation in psychotherapy of addictions, which will also be available to Prison Service officers.
