The Center for Genetic Engineering equipped with modern and unique research infrastructure was opened at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław. The creation of the center cost nearly PLN 5.5 million.
The Center’s equipment allows students to breed and conduct biomedical basic and preclinical research in vivo on small animal models, in an environment free of specific pathogens and in the conditions of good laboratory practices (GLP). The Center will also be a place for training students and PhD students.
Scientists of the University of Life Sciences in Wroclaw have many years of experience in the application of genetic engineering techniques to create genetically modified cells and animal research models. Currently in cooperation with the Wrocław Medical University it conducts research on the molecular mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapy of breast cancer cells.
