-We need to clarify the concepts contained in the strategy and present consistent postulates to the authorities, -agreed participants in the debate of Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) committees on forests. Its working group will meet later this year to develop a joint document. It will include representatives of the Committee for Environmental and Evolutionary Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Committee for Forest Sciences and Wood Technology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The Polish Academy of Sciences informs, that in the debate on forests, which took place on November 3 in Warsaw, the starting point for the conversation was the European Union’s Biodiversity Strategy 2030 called “Bringing nature back to our lives”.

Its goal is to protect and restore biodiversity in Europe for the benefit of people, the climate and the planet.

The participants of the debate at the Polish Academy of Sciences emphasized that the role of science is to bring the discussion about forests to the substantive ground, that emotional statements and media jargon in scientific texts should be avoided, and that science research should be directed to solving important and current problems.
