Librarians from the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn have once again given expression to their creativity. An unusual Christmas decoration has been erected in the university library. Since 6 December, visitors have been able to see a Christmas tree made of old computers for recycling.
The structure consists of around 200 desktop computers arranged in 15 layers and is over 3 metres high.
The UWM Olsztyn University Library’s Christmas constructions are already a Christmas tradition. It began in December 2011 with a Christmas tree made of books (the first of its kind in Poland and the second in the world). In the following years, the tradition, bolstered by the expectations of subsequent projects, became a permanent feature of the library’s calendar of events. Subsequent trees were created from catalogue drawers, old catalogue cards or origami books.
