Computer tomograph to support scientists of the AGH University of Science and Technology in their research

04.11.2020

The latest generation computer tomograph will be used by scientists from the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków to analyze the internal structure of building materials and geological formations.

The new equipment provides a unique spatial resolution on a wide range of scanned materials – from small biological samples to large elements made of metal, concrete or wood.

The latest equipment from General Electric (GE V | TOME | X M300), worth PLN 4.5 million, will expand the research capabilities of employees and students of the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering.

The device will be used in testing all kinds of building materials. In addition to assessing the porosity or the distribution of individual material components, the tomograph will assess the quality of the tested sample. On this basis, it can conclude about the possible use of the material in construction or the raw material industry.
