The implementation of the Act 2.0, and in particular the financing of Polish higher education and science were the main topics of the plenary meeting of the Conference of Polish Academical Rectors (KRASP), which on 30-31 May 2019 took place at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.
The conference began with the speech of Jarosław Gowin, deputy prime minister, minister of science and higher education.
– We worked on the law for three years. It was well prepared and well received by the academic community. It is now implemented without major perturbations. But without ensuring a minimum increase in funding, the Act 2.0 will certainly fail. The expenditures for financing Polish science and higher education should grow as soon as possible. That is why I ask KRASP to support my efforts to increase funding. At the same time, I am asking KRASP for the adoption of the Act 2.0. This is an indisputable condition, assuring the trust of the scholar environment for the government’s actions – said Jarosław Gowin.
