Joint conferences, support in teaching and the development of cooperation within the framework of the Gdańsk City of Literature programme – such provisions were included in the letter of intent signed by Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk, and Professor Piotr Stepnowski, Rector of the University of Gdańsk. A new undergraduate course is being created at the university: The Art of Creative Writing.
“Young people, our students, are very creative, willing to wander off the beaten track. They also often have a need to express themselves, including in literary form. We therefore hope that these studies will enable, also thanks to cooperation with the city and our artists, many talents to be discovered”, says Professor Piotr Stepnowski.
The partners have declared further cooperation under the Gdańsk City of Literature programme launched in May 2022. Its aim is to support the Gdańsk literary community. The initiative includes a website dedicated to literary events, places and figures.
