Researchers of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn will take part in the research project “Illicit firearms trafficking and gun violence in Europe Project TARGET”, which is co-financed by the European Union Commission.
The work of the research team is headed by Dr Piotr Chlebowicz, the scientist of the Department of Criminology and Forensics, Faculty of Law and Administration, UWM.
-The aim is to investigate the phenomenon of violence with the use of firearms, including establishing the links between this violence and the illegal trade and smuggling of firearms and ammunition. Capturing these connections seems to me as the most cognitively valuable research. The arms trade is a very sensitive research area, there is little information available on the level of university research – said Dr Piotr Chlebowicz.
