Klaudia Szala, a biology student at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, received the Diamond Grant of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Thanks to the grant, the winner will implement the project “The role of pigmentation of eggshells in sexual selection: whether the intensity of pigmentation is an indicator of the condition of the female and affects the size of the male parent investment (on the example of the scarlet Lanius collurio)”.

This is the eighth Diamond Grant competition. This year, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin awarded over PLN 17 million to finance projects of exceptionally gifted students of regular master’s studies or graduates of first-cycle studies, conducting research at a high academic level and possessing outstanding scientific achievements.

During the implementation of their research projects, winners will receive a grant of up to 2.5 thousand PLN monthly.
