Researchers from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics at Wrocław University of Life Sciences are working on the DigiTwins4PEDs project, which will use a digital twin of a city to model the energy aspects of cities. This is a step towards carbon-neutral cities and a sustainable energy future. The research is funded by the National Centre for Research and Development.
The aim of the project is to develop the technology and put it into practice using interactive tools and information-sharing platforms (living labs for residents) that will help prepare communities to implement positive energy areas (PEDs) and enable them to co-create PEDs in their neighbourhoods.
The consortium comprises ten partners from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Austria, including universities, research units, business partners and representatives from the cities that have been selected as test areas (Wrocław, Vienna, Stuttgart and Rotterdam).
