A disability simulator will be set up at the University of Wrocław. In the new teaching laboratory, students will be able to experience the changes that take place in dexterity with age, as well as feel for themselves how people with Parkinson’s disease function.
Among other things, the laboratory will include a simulator of the sensations of old age – a special suit that allows one to experience the changes that occur in one’s dexterity with age, such as a decrease in muscle strength, restriction of joint movement, deterioration of sight and hearing. There will also be a Parkinson’s shock simulation kit in the form of a special glove that simulates hand tremors and reduced hand dexterity, as well as glasses to simulate visual impairment – goggles that show tunnel vision, spherical vision and half vision.
The laboratory will serve students, including those majoring in fields such as social work. The aim is primarily to raise ‘soft’ skills in the broadest sense of the term and to work on awareness.
