Two teams of students from the Silesian University of Technology have won the international “STEM Innovation Contest” competition organised within the EURECA-PRO consortium.
The competition involves students solving real-world problems posed by industrial partners. National teams, made up of students from one university in the consortium, and international teams with members from different universities take part.
The national final was won by ‘AvGeeks’, made up of students, a PhD student and an employee from the Faculty of Transport and Aeronautical Engineering; the international final was won by ‘Safe Wheels’, made up of students, PhD students and employees from the faculties of Materials Engineering and Chemical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano and INSA Toulouse.
The ‘AvGeeks’ team designed an innovative bicycle helmet, while the ‘Safe Wheels’ team designed an innovative laser system to warn drivers of an oncoming cyclist.
