Dr Edyta Widawska from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at the University of Silesia became a laureate of the Mieczysław Biegańska Equality Prize. The prize is awarded to persons or entities of the social economy performing special activity in the protection of human rights and counteracting discrimination among residents and residents of Częstochowa.
Dr Edyta Widawska is the founder of the Polish Institute of Mediation and Social Integration – an association that has been operating since 2009, dealing with human rights, social participation, family assistance and social mediation.
The laureate is also a member of the Watchdog Polska Civic Network, initiator and organizer of the “Watch Dogs Human Rights in Film” Film Festival, a specialist in human rights and monitoring. It works with many third sector organizations.
