Students of the Wrocław University of Technology took the third place in the general classification of the SmartMoto Challenge electric vehicle competition in Barcelona. The University of Technology won the first place for the best design, the second in static competition. In total, it gave them the third position- said Michał Ciepielski from the Department of Information and Promotion of the university.
The students went to Barcelona to present their Light Electric Motor Thunder, which is adapted to rallies in difficult terrain conditions. The vehicle weighs 120 kg and has a power of 30 kW, or about 40 horsepower. Battery capacity, entirely designed by students, allows to drive about 90 km at a speed of 120 km / h. Due to a special system, it can be replaced in a few seconds.
In the tournament, all teams had to go through static competition i.e. presentation of the business plan and technical details of the vehicle, and then the vehicles were tested by dynamic tests of power and acceleration.
