The Centre for Extracorporeal Life Support and Patient Safety, coordinated by the Department of Cardiac Surgery and Transplantation at Poznan University of Medical Sciences, has successfully passed the certification of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organisation (ELSO) and joined the ranks of 10 renowned training centres worldwide.
The centre was established thanks to money raised from the European Social Fund under the 2018-2021 POWER project to provide postgraduate training for doctors. The ELSO certificate is valid for three years.
The ECMO course dedicated to extracorporeal techniques – the ELSO-Endorsed Comprehensive Course – which is being implemented at the university unit, has so far been completed by 357 doctors from all over Poland. This is a clear contribution of the Poznań training team to the popularisation of extracorporeal techniques in Poland”.
