A new academic year 2023/2024 was inaugurated at the State Academy of Applied Sciences (PANS) in Chełm. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, who delivered the inaugural lecture ‘From pedagogy of shame to patriotic education – pedagogy of pride in Poland’. 

Among the priorities for the development of PANS, which Minister Przemysław Czarnek discussed with the authorities of the town and the university, is the creation of a medical faculty. “Chełm must become a place where we will educate doctors. Chełm has potential. This potential is huge” pointed out the head of the Ministry of Education and Science. He added that plans for the creation of the new faculty will be developed in cooperation with the Medical University in Lublin. 

PANS in Chełm is a public vocational higher education institution established in 2001 under the name of the State Higher Vocational School in Chełm. It changed its name in 2022.

PANS educates more than 2,000 students in 19 majors.
