08.05.2019

The engineers of the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences, are working on the construction of a small excavator, which will be launched with a lander developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) to the Moon.

The excavator will dig the oxygen-rich regolith. The Polish device is to transfer regolith to a thermochemical reactor to produce water.

The European Space Agency (ESA) intends to send a lander to the Moon by 2025. It will be used to carry out further research, which will show the possibility of obtaining oxygen or water from the local mineral resources. This will be the first ever mission focused on using the Moon’s resources.
