Thirteen European university networks have called for a doubling the budget for research, innovation and education in the next EU financial perspective. This common position was expressed by the European University Association (EUA) and the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA), with the University of Warsaw as a member.

As part of the current financial perspective, 80 billion euros have been allocated to scientific research and innovation. It is the budget of the Horizon 2020 Framework Program. Universities plan to convince decision-makers to double these funds in the next financial perspective, so that the budget of the 9th Framework Program is 160 billion euros.
