In 2019, expenditures on Polish science increased by PLN 5 billion, and this was the largest increase since 1989. This year, the total increase will amount to a total of about PLN 4 billion – said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.

Along with the expansion of expenditure on higher education and science, the research and development expenditures will also increase. More than PLN 31 billion is envisaged for this purpose in the Budget Act 2020 with over PLN 27 billion from the state budget and almost PLN 4 billion from the European budget.

In comparison to 2019, these expenses will increase by over PLN 3 billion, i.e. around 11%.
