Students from the PolSl Racing club at the Silesian University of Technology presented their first electric car in the Formula Student class. The SW-03e car is the result of development work on the previous, combustion engine – car, which has repeatedly been successful on the international arena.
In addition to a completely new power source, changes include the design of the frame, suspension and aerodynamic package. The vehicle has been designed for competition on race tracks.
“The students used a number of innovative solutions, for example, dispersed composite materials, ultra-light fibre plating, the aerodynamics of the vehicle were simulated in professional software. In addition, traction control systems, steering systems, safety systems and a new energy storage system are used. It can be said that the vehicle is packed with many modern solutions,” said the Club’s scientific supervisor, Dr Eng. Mirosław Szczepanik, Professor at the Silesian University of Technology.
