The Minister of Science and Higher Education appointed an international team to evaluate applications for the first competition “Initiative of excellence – a research university”. The team is to select a group of universities that will become research universities in the future and according to the Ministry’s assumptions, they will effectively compete with the best universities and institutes in the world.

On the basis of the team’s assessments universities will be selected and will receive an annual subsidy higher by 10 per cent than the subsidy obtained in 2019.

The team consists of 15 outstanding foreign experts including rectors or vice-rectors of leading European universities e.g. University of Göttingen, University of Amsterdam, University of Aarhus, University of Manchester and University of Southampton.
