Former President of the European Council to deliver a lecture at the University of Lodz

Five words – Solidarity, Unity, Democracy, Autonomy, Future were in the focus of the lecture of Herman Van Rompuy, former President of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Belgium at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology of the University of Łódź (UŁ). His speech “Europe in a world where values ​​are increasingly needed” was a summary of Herman Van Rompuy’s visit to Łódź. 

During the lecture, the former Belgian prime minister said that the University of Lodz is relatively young, but it is already part of the great European tradition of freedom of conscience.

Throughout his political activity, Herman Van Rompuy was also active in scientific and cultural life. He was the director of the Center for Political, Economic and Social Studies, he worked as a professor at the Handelshogeschool in Antwerp, and after his presidency he was a professor at the University of Leuven and the College of Europe in Bruges.
