Professor Marek Tukiendorf, rector of the Opole University of Technology in the years 2012-2019, was posthumously honored with the special award “Distinguished Star” in the competition “Internationalization Stars”.

Professor Tukiendorf was in the years 2016-2019 the chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of the Conference of Polish Academic Rectors (KRASP). In the justification of the award, the honorary head of the jury Prof. Jan Szmidt (chairman of KRASP) wrote: “He was extremely enthusiastic and talented person in opening new directions of cooperation at the levels of universities and rectors’ conferences, in East and West, in Europe, Asia and America … he did it very efficiently”.

“Internationalization Stars” have been awarded for three years under the “Study in Poland” program implemented by KRASP and the “Perspektywy” Educational Foundation. The competition is sponsored by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin.
