Scientists of the Department of Strength of Materials at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology (PG) will exercise scientific supervision over key investments in Gdańsk’s infrastructure.
As part of the Viaduct Biskupia Górka investment, 3 viaducts and a bridge over the Radunia Canal will be built. PG employees supervising them simultaneously gather material for the preparation of scientific publications. The load tests on the viaduct were attended by Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of the university and Alan Aleksandrowicz, vice president of Gdańsk for economic affairs.
Scientists from the Gdańsk University of Technology will also supervise another interesting object – the Venetian flyover, which is a fragment of the so-called Nowa Bulońska Road. The technology used in this construction allows for the elimination of noise and ice when traveling on an overpass. In winter, there will be no icy surface here – assures Mikołaj Miśkiewicz, assistant professor at the Department of Material Strength and manager of the bridge laboratory.
