Gdansk University of Technology has become a partner of an international consortium in the new PLAN-B project. Its aim is to address the negative effects of artificial light and noise pollution on biodiversity and terrestrial ecosystems.

PLAN-B aims to provide a better understanding of and support for reducing the impacts of artificial light and noise pollution on terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem services. In addition, it is intended to help create an enabling environment to support and enhance actions planned in the EU Biodiversity Strategy and to provide a new pathway towards achieving international targets in this area.

The project is funded by the Horizon Europe programme. The consortium, led by Ghent University, has received more than €2.3 million for the four-year, multidisciplinary research. In addition to the Gdansk University of Technology and the City of Gdansk, universities from Spain, Sweden, Germany and Belgium are participating in the project.
