Dr Magdalena Rucka, Prof. of Gdańsk University of Technology (PG) and Dr Jacek Ryl, Prof. of PG have won the awards of the Polish Academy of Sciences for outstanding published creative research work or a series of works awarded to researchers under the age of 45.
Dr Eng. Magdalena Rucka from the Department of Strength of Materials at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering was awarded for a series of 14 publications on diagnostics and monitoring of engineering structures and their elements using non-destructive methods. Her work focused on techniques using electromagnetic and ultrasonic wave propagation.
Dr Eng. Jacek Riel from the Department of Electrochemistry, Corrosion and Materials Engineering at the chemical faculty, was awarded for a series of 9 publications on research related to the production and electrochemical characteristics of thin-film boron-doped diamond electrodes (BDD) and its derivatives.
